It was wonderful meeting all the grandparents!
About Me
My name is Brigitta Nicole Campbell and I go by Nicki. I have been teaching for five years and this year is going on my sixth year teaching. I am a life long learner and am always trying to improve my skills and strategies as a teacher. I feel that relationships have an important role in a student's learning. I will try to always have a positive relationship with each and everyone of my students.
I grew up overseas in Germany being part of a military family, which has molded me into the person I am today. I use my travel and cultural experiences with my students to connect real life experiences with learning situations. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from University of North Alabama. I have my Masters' Degree from University of Phoenix in Curriculum and Instruction.
I met my husband my last year in college and we got married in 2011. He is in the Navy and just recently left to begin that career. He was currently and EMT here in Decatur. I look forward to seeing him again. I have a sister that lives in Seattle, WA and my mom still lives in Germany. I hope to visit Germany again soon. My mom is 5th grade teacher in Vogelweh Elementary School teaching children of the military.

Dear Parents,
Hope you all had a great weekend. It never
seems long enough. I think the kids agree. Our reading tests last week were not
good. I fear many of the kids are not looking back and checking their answers.
I reinforce this as much as I can and will continue to encourage them to look
over there and look for answers in the text. I will provide more practice for
students to work on the skills they need on the test this week. I will also be
sending home reading logins and passwords for students to work on the computer at
home.
I try
to post in the blog at least once a week, but will try to make more of an
effort to post more often. The day just gets away from me. Please keep in mind
when your child has a book talk. I will post it in the blog and try to email
you when the time is close.
Have a great week!
Thank you

Dear Parents,
I hope
everyone was able to rest on Labor Day and ready to get back to school and
work. I had an amazing weekend. My
husband graduated from naval boot camp and is now in Pensacola, FL for on the
job training. Yes I am very jealous right now, but also very proud. LOL!
Remember
to have your children complete the homework on time. Students will receive a
grade for completing it on time at the end of the 9 weeks. Also, I check and
make corrections on the homework; however, it is not a grade. Graded papers are
coming home today. Please make sure you look over your child’s tests and work.
You can also go online to see their grades for each subject. Contact the school
office for that information. Book
Talk calendar is coming home today. Please be aware of when your child does his
or her book talk. It is a grade and points are deducted for each day it is
late. Go check out the blog every few days because I will be updating with new
information and how our day looks.
Have a great week!
Thank you

Newsletter Aug. 26-30
Mrs. Campbell’s
Newsletter
August 26th-August
30th, 2013
Dear Parents,
This is
the start of a very successful week as we will begin practicing many skills we
learned this week. New skills will be introduced this week and students will be
tested on these skills on Friday. The DOL, Math 4 Today, Spelling, and Reading
Comprehension test will be Friday. Vocabulary and Spelling words are on the
home connection sheet sent home with your child today. If the last page of the
home connection sheet is completed correctly and you sign the front, then your
child will receive 5 bonus points on the reading comprehension test on Friday.
The
Reading comprehension test is not something your child can study for. It is an
assessment based on skills they have learned this week. A story will be given
to your child and he or she will read it carefully and answer questions at the
end of the story. This is called a cold read. I
I
apologize for not getting the book talk calendar out last week but I will try
and get it to you this week. We will not begin the book talk until September.
This
week I will begin adding new things to my blog like pictures and student work.
So check out the blog every few days because I will be updating with new
information and how our day looks.
Thank you
Mrs. Campbell

Getting
to Know You Activities
Dear Parents,
I am excited
to have your child in my class this year. We have started off to what I expect
to be a great year. This week we will begin reading (Wonders), D.O.L., and Math 4
Today. We will complete the tests together on Friday so the students will
understand what is expected on the tests. Students will be bringing home their
Bellwork (D.O.L and Math 4 Today) folder home every night to study. Please make
sure your child brings back their Bellwork folder to school every day.
Every
nine weeks, we will be doing a book talk. I will send a sign-up calendar home
this week. Fill in at least two dates that your child would like to do his/her
book talk. The rubric will always be in
your child’s Hero book that comes home every day. The Hero book was put it
together today at school so take some time to look through it so you know what
is in the Hero book.
I will have this newsletter on my blog if you lose
is it or misplace it. I will do this every week. The newsletter will give you
an idea of what your child will be missing when he/she is absent. I will also post
pictures of students during learning activities and field trips.
Thank you
Mrs. Campbell

Beginning of the Year
Hey Parents,
It is the beginning of a new year and I am so excited to be working with your wonderful children. We will be getting into the curriculum from day one. So keep in mind there may be some homework coming home. I want this year to be successful and for students to reach their goals that will get them that much closer to the dreams they have for themselves. During this year I want to get to know you and for you to get to know me. Call or email me for concerns or questions you may have.
Thank you
